San Antonio Adventures
Since Sunday, I have been in San Antonio. Why San Antonio? I belong to the Texas High School Coaches Association. We had our conference down there, and basically what it entails is a bunch of lectures devoted to different sports. I attended some of the basketball ones and it really started my brain churning for next season.
Talk about testosteroneville...Man...The ratio of men to women was probably like 50:1. I was going through estrogen contact withdrawals. I'm glad to be back home, where the ratio is a little more even.
I stayed at this 100 year old mansion called the Bullis House. Built on Governor's Hill, which is across the street from Fort Stockton (I think), the Bullis House is actually a bed and breafast and hostel. My first, but I'm sure when I'm married one day, I'll attend bed and breafasts more often.
The house was the type of house I would like to have one day. It is old, but the hardwood and the smell of experience creaking up through the floors make it feel like home. Nestled in an area where most people would not like to stay at first glance, the area proved to be very safe and quiet. It was peaceful.
Everyday, instead of looking for a place to park in downtown San Antonio, I rode bus #20 to the convention center every morning and rode it back in the evening. Very convenient. At $30 a month for a pass, you could save big time money without having a car. If public transportation existed where I live, I would use it everyday. In about a year we're supposed to get a couple of bus routes, and by 2011, Denton will be connected to Dallas by rail. That is, I'll use it if I'm still in the area.
Anyway, that was my short trip, compared to others I've done, and it was one last hoorah until the start of another school year.
