Texas High School Football
It is that time again in my life where I live football. Not by choice, but just because this is Texas. Last year was dreadful, but this year I am actually enjoying the experience. Probably, because I know what to expect.
Here in Lewisville, we have been in meetings since last Thursday to better understand the multiple formation offense we are going to run. From our new coach at the high school, I have learned that we can line up our offense over 72 different ways, which really gets the defense guessing. I have to admit, last year I did not know too much about the x's and o's of football, but this year, I feel like I have been coaching football my whole life. The hardest part about coaching/teaching is relating the knowlege so the kids can understand it and enjoy it.
I am looking forward to this year. And, as you may or may not know, I will stay very busy for the next three months. Practice every morning before school with 7th grade and everyday after school with 8th grade. Mondays and Tuesdays we have middle school games until about 9pm and Fridays we have high school duties until about 1 am Saturday morning.
This year, I do not have to scout, but instead I am getting my directorial debut. That's right, I get to film all the high school varsity games on Friday nights. I'm actually looking forward to this. It feels like that the head coach is actually looking out for his fellow UNT alumni.
If anybody reads this and has any questions for me about the life of a middle school football coach in Texas, please ask me...
If I don't post a blog to regularly, it's because I'm coaching.
